nest-basket made entirely from hand-twisted and woven dandelion stems

handspun nettle warp threads, goldenrod, joe pye weed, boneset, cow vetch, purple loosestrife, and some unidentified sedges and grasses.
this photo was taken about 12 hours after the weaving was finished. over time the color will continue to fade, the weeds will dry and shrink, and the whole thing will become more brittle until it disintegrates entirely.

viewers were invited to climb the ladder in order to see the seedlings.

sleeping human, cherry sapling from my family's land, soil, wood
performed october 2nd, 2015 for the opening reception of no ice cream without cow shit. this is a gesture of tenderness towards a tree that i share roots with and have a responsibility to care for. metaphorically, it is an encouragement to treat the natural world with as much love as we would treat our closest friends.
