Late summer and early autumn offer an abundance of pigment-rich plants that can be used to dye fabric. This workshop will take place outdoors in my garden using homegrown dye plants, including marigolds, purple basil, diablo cosmos, goldenrod, sunflowers, and mint. We’ll walk through the step-by-step process of preparing the fibers and fabric, extracting color and creating a dye bath, and imparting color onto fabric using a few different techniques. Some fabric will be provided, but folks are encouraged to bring their own small textiles to dye (nothing larger than a shirt please!) as long as they are made from 100% or close to 100% cotton, linen, hemp, silk, wool, or other naturally-derived fiber.
The cost of this workshop is $20 per person. Since it is taking place at my home in Waltham, VT, the address will be shared privately with participants after they sign up.
