Learn how to harness the bounty of colors in nature to create a wearable work of art! In this class we will each create a uniquely dyed bandanna or scarf using a variety of flowers, leaves, barks, and even food scraps. The bundle-dyeing process is a fun and easy introduction to the world of natural dyeing, and we will also discuss a variety of techniques for increasing light-fastness and wash-fastness, identifying pigment-rich plants, and getting the most out of the dyeing process.
Fabric will be provided, but if you wish to bring a white or off-white article of clothing that is close to 100% cotton, linen, hemp, or any other plant fiber to dye, you are welcome to do so! No previous experience is necessary.
