We gathered the ingredients at the Dartmouth Organic Farm and now we’re ready to make some dyes and try them out! We’ll supply paper and cloth to dye, but you are welcome to bring a t-shirt, handkerchief, or other small textile to try dyeing too, as long as it is made with 90-100% natural fibers (cotton, linen, rayon, hemp, wool, silk, etc.) We'll go through the process of creating a dye bath from whole plant materials, applying dyes and natural inks to paper and cloth, and discuss techniques for adjusting hue and improving colorfastness and lightfastness. Expect to get messy, so don’t wear your best clothes.
