Coptic Bookbinding with Old Book Covers

  • Dartmouth Book Arts Workshop Rm 21 of Baker-Berry Library at Dartmouth College Hanover, NH 03755 (map)

Need a new journal or sketchbook? Learn how to make a Coptic-style sewn book using old book covers. Coptic binding is one of the oldest bookbinding methods, and deceptively simple - the flexible binding allows the book to open flat, and the exposed looping stitches create a beautiful braid-like effect. We’ll supply some book covers to give new life to, but you also might want to bring some yourself.

Presented through the Dartmouth Library’s Book Arts Workshop

Registration opens at 5pm on 10/18/22 here: https://libcal.dartmouth.edu/event/9648016
