Dyeing with plants opens up a world of possibility for experimentation and creativity, with the opportunity to access a nearly infinite range of color. This virtual class will provide an overview of how to prepare different kinds of fabrics and fibers to be dyed, how to extract pigment from locally available plants, and how to adjust the colors using simple modifiers. Emma will demonstrate how to create and use a single-color dye bath as well as how to bundle-dye fabric to create a multicolored patterned effect. Once you know the fundamental steps, you can apply this process to nearly any fiber-based project you have in mind!
A list of materials and tools required will be emailed to you so that you can try it at home after class.
This class will be using the Zoom platform. A Zoom invitation will be sent prior to the start date with details on how to participate.
